JPMorgan Chase is blocking outside AI agents that try to enter retail accounts with a customer's own banking credentials. Chief executive Jamie Dimon said on the bank's third-quarter earnings call that the bank would not let just any outside agent in, because that was too risky for clients and for JPMorgan. Fortune quoted him: "You don't want rogue agents."
A JPMorgan spokesperson told Fortune that when the bank detects a third party trying to get in with a customer's credentials, it does not allow it. The spokesperson said the bank does support sharing that a customer authorizes through open-banking providers. The Paypers reported that an agent can still read some information, such as a balance, when a connector such as Plaid holds the login, but cannot send money or pay bills. The bank has not given a date for letting agents act on an account directly.
