Anthropic said on October 14 that it had opened an office in Singapore, its fifth in Asia-Pacific, and signed a memorandum of understanding with Singapore's Ministry of Digital Development and Information.
The company said Kai Fong Chng, permanent secretary of the ministry, and Anthropic co-founder Ben Mann signed the memorandum during Singapore International Cyber Week. Minister Josephine Teo and Michael Sellitto, Anthropic's head of Asia-Pacific policy, were there. Anthropic said the agreement covers cooperation on AI safety, security, and model evaluation; research on adoption and its effects; and responsible use in the public and private sectors.
Under the memorandum, Anthropic said it plans technical exchanges with Singapore's safety and assurance institutions on model evaluation, testing standards, and incident response. It said Claude is already used by GovTech Singapore, Grab, and DBS. The office is hiring.
